Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a very, very busy man. Having shot the thriller The Resident earlier this year, Dean Morgan moved immediately into production of the DC/Vertigo comic book adaptation The Losers, currently shooting in Puerto Rico. Now word comes from the actor himself that he’ll be taking a role in the upcoming remake of the 1984 John Milius cult classic, Red Dawn.

“I’m jumping back in,” Dean Morgan reveals to ComingSoon.net, ” I go to work on something about ten days after I’ve finished shooting ['The Losers']… It’s a remake of a movie that I love… ‘Red Dawn.’ I just love that f**king movie, ever since I was a kid.”

Red Dawn, slated to start shooting soon in Detroit, MI, takes place in an alternate reality where the United States has fallen to the forces of communism and focuses on a group of high school students who form a militant band to fight back.

“I guess I’m more or less the old Powers Booth character,” says Dean Morgan of his role, “There’s all the kids and Powers Booth is the pilot that lands in the film and kind of helps them take down the bad guys. Blow communism away. It’s a really good, young cast. I’ll be the old guy in it, which is cool.”

The currently-announced cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Adrianne Palicki, Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas, Connor Cruise and Edwin Hodge with second-unit director Dan Bradley stepping up to the full director’s chair for the first time.

“He’s the real deal,” says Dean Morgan of Bradley, “A real good action director and apparently a really good, stylized director with actors anyway. I’m very much looking forward to it.”

Red Dawn is currently slated for a September 2010 release.

Director Sylvan White talks about “The Losers”

With his new movie, “The Losers,” director Sylvain White wants to keep a balance between action, humor and adventure like in the film series “Lethal Weapon,” “Beverly Hills Cop” and “Die Hard”, all were big successes in the 80’s.

But according to the director (“Stomp the Yard” and “I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer”), blending several film genres is a challenging job in the movie he’s shooting for seven weeks in various locations on the island.

To avoid further complications, they decided to keep the plot, based on a DC Comics story, as simple as possible.

“We’re staying true to the characters. From their appearance to the way they act. In fact, many of the dialogues are the originals. We’re taking many original elements from the comic book, “White said.

In his opinion, the mixing of genres and the support of a good story can make the difference between “The Losers” and the other action movies, because they tend to focus more on special effects than on plot.

“It’s a good and simple story. It’s more about the funny side of the characters and the way they move. I like that, it’s not a complicated plot of the plan … the plan of a plan. In that sense there are great scenes for the characters and the action moves well, “said the director, who thinks that the movie will bring more productions to the island thanks to the exposure it will give to the country.

“The Losers”, which is expected to be released in early 2010, is about a group of undercover agents who have been betrayed by their superiors and use their skills to take revenge.

The movie characters are a group of renegades played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan ( “Clay”), Idris Elba ( “Roque”), Chris Evans ( “Jensen”), Oscar Jaenada ( “Cougar”), Columbus Short ( “Pooch” ) and Zoe Saldana ( “Aisha”).

Expert on weapons

Spanish actor Óscar Jaenada can testify that there is a lot of action in this movie, particularly lately because they’re shooting the last scenes in the port area of San Juan, where the most active sequences take place.

The actor plays Cougar, the most quiet and disturbing person of the group; a man very skillful with guns, so he had to train.

“Soldiers must have a good physical condition because they are in extreme environments such as jungle or desert. The hardest thing was to put myself in a soldier’s shoes. Squeezing the trigger or using gunsights is pretty easy, but thinking like a soldier leads you to study the character, “said the actor, who was in” Che: Part Two “.

Jaenada defines as luck the boost he had in his career in the United States last year, after eight years of work in his country.

“In Spain I ended up winning all sorts of awards, I did several movies there and I felt a bit empty. I decided to go to New York, then Los Angeles and I relied on fate. I was lucky enough and I’ve already worked with Jim Jarmusch and Steven Soderbergh,” Jaenada said.

His next movie will be completely different from “The Losers”, he’ll play Mario Moreno “Cantinflas” in a film which will be shot between Mexico and the United States.

Female Balance

The only actress of the cast, Zoe Saldaña, has another opinion about militia, betrayal and movie plot. For the young Puerto Rican-Dominican actress, humidity and tropics give sensuousness to the movie and it helped her to rediscover her feminine side.

“It’s funny because as time goes by, I’m realizing that my femininity is increasing. I’ve always considered myself as a tomboy despite the fact that I was a dancer for many years, it is not until this film that I realize I am very feminine. I’ve always thought that a role like Aisha would be very easy but it was not, “she said.

In fact, according to the actress, it’s not unusual to be part of a cast dominated by men, like in “Star Trek” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”.

Although she likes real stories and she wants to work with all film genres, mainly because she doesn’t want to be typecast, she says she loves action.

“I like to have roles that are different from the previous ones… I live for that. But after having done ‘Avatar’ and ‘Star Trek’, I’m curious to keep discovering the action genre. I like to be insulted, hurt and to have a gun. I love physical activity. I really think that strong women are sexy,” Saldaña concluded.

Tossing in the towel–Accidental Husband goes direct to DVD

This title from the financially foundering Bob Yari Film Group sat on a shelf, supposedly the movie that would be the big screen “break out” Jeffrey Dean Morgan a year before Watchmen ever came out.

It was to be a spring 2008 release, then summer, fall, spring 2009, and now…
The Accidental Husband makes its way to a DVD store near you on Nov. 10.

Will that be the rule for all Bob Yari projects? He has more things “in development,” but he couldn’t get a movie with Uma and Colin Firth and Jeffrey Dean M. and Isabella Rossellini.into U.S. theaters. The Netherlands, yes. But not here.

The film fest hit Assassination of a High School President may suffer a similar Yari fate. It was supposed to be “a contender.” Last year.

– Viewers will be swept off their feet when Sony Pictures Home Entertainment ushers the whimsical romantic comedy The Accidental Husband onto DVD on November 10, 2009 for the SRP of $24.96. A steady stream of shenanigans ensue when a jilted firefighter (Jeffrey Dean Morgan – TV’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” P.S. I Love You) seeks revenge on relationship expert and talk show host, Dr. Emma Lloyd (Uma Thurman – The Producers, Be Cool), who advises his fiancée to leave him at the altar. Directed by Griffin Dunne (Practical Magic, Addicted to Love) and produced by Thurman, The Accidental Husband features an all-star cast including Colin Firth (Mamma Mia!, Bridget Jones’s Diary), Oscar® nominee Sam Shepard (Felon, The Right Stuff), Isabella Rossellini (Wyatt Earp, Infamous) and Justina Machado (TV’s “Six Feet Under,” Torque). The special features promise to deliver satisfaction with the making-of featurette that explores the fun the cast had behind-the-scenes.

The Accidental Husband Synopsis

Firefighter Patrick Sullivan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) finds his life turned upside-down when his fiancée suddenly calls off their pending nuptials per the recommendation of radio love guru Dr. Emma Lloyd (Uma Thurman). Determined to get back at this “love doctor,” Sullivan forges a fake marriage license, “accidentally” marrying him to Emma, who’s already engaged to Richard (Colin Firth). But as Patrick’s charms begin to wear Emma down, she must decide which of these bachelors is her “Mr. Right.” Also starring Sam Shepard, Justina Machado and Isabella Rossellini in this romantic comedy that proves even the experts need to learn a few love lessons now and then.
